Namur, Belgium Grand Prix
This print is of the famous Namur track in the town of the same name. Since the 1940's Namur has made it off and on the GP circuit with mixed reviews from riders. I think it is the kind of place you love or hate. As a photographer, I love it. As a rider, I think I would also like it since it is part motocross, part trail riding, or cross country. The start area is located at the top of Namur, an area called the Citadel. In this photo the riders are climbing up from the bottom of the track (near Carla's famous Cafe) toward the Citadel.
This photo was shot in 2006, the second year I went to Namur. After my first trip, I was annoyed my photos did not really capture the character and scale of the facility, nor did they reveal the military history of the place. This photo meant to change that.
